Once I was past the little girl stage, I never wore a French braid again. I had a friend in high school that could French braid her own hair and I was so jealous. I attempted many times but it was too hard. I have always wanted to learn, though, so that I could create beautiful hairstyles for my own girls. I didn't think I'd have the patience for it so I've never learned.
Well, now that Kieran is in dance competitions, this requires that I learn how to do stage makeup (false lashes and all) and crazy hairstyles. For her jazz dance, her teacher wants the girls to wear a French braid down the right side of their heads ending in messy bun on the left side...I quickly interrupted her with, "You lost me at French braid." Most of the other moms (we're all new to dance competitions) couldn't do it, either, so I figured one of us better learn!
I'm thankful for YouTube tutorials. I watched that thing twice and set out to try it out. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! The trick is to hold the pieces correctly between your fingers and using your thumb to hold it tight.
|Attempt #2~I love how fat her braid is!|
Here is the YouTube tutorial I used to learn to French braid!
