Alisa's Lunch

Alisa has never been a big eater. Even when she was practicing gymnastics 20+ hours a week, I always thought she wasn't getting enough nutrition. She is a tiny, tiny girl and is often mistaken for being 2-3 years younger than she really is (which is huge deal when you're 13!)

Ever since retiring from gymnastics and taking up cross country running, it has been almost impossible to keep her fed. She is always starving and at first I was happy about it because she really needs to put on weight, but now I'm wondering how I can afford her!

Her schedule--starting at 6:30 a.m.--is running 5 miles, weight lifting (Tuesday & Thursday only), and then school from 8:55-3:55. Here is a sample of what she packed for lunch for her first and second days of school:
Gatorade, dinosaur-shaped sandwich (a special request), strawberries, protein shake, Clif bar, bell peppers, green apples, whole wheat bagel with peanut butter, chocolate animal crackers, peanut butter crackers, and cashews
Raviolis, Gatorade, red & green apples, yogurt, cashews, dinosaur sandwich (she says she'll eat regular sandwiches in 10th grade), Clif bar, cashews, chocolate animal crackers, fruit snacks, and peanut butter crackers
She has put on about 11 pounds in the past 7 weeks which finally brings her up to a healthy BMI (she has been classified as underweight her entire life, with the exception of at birth.)
