Art Auction

Alisa went to Elm Tree Elementary for 5 years, Kieran is in her 3rd year here, and Aydin started his first.  In all this time, I have never been to art auction.  Both Kieran's and Aydin's classes were going to do a little song & dance number on stage so we went to check it out.  I thought it would be a cute, little, elementary school art auction.  Wow!  I was totally wrong.  The whole event was incredible.  Each class had their own project that was auctioned off in a live auction, and there were hundreds and hundreds of other pieces of art that went in a silent auction.  The students' art projects were also on "sale" for a donation.
A real auctioneer!  He's asking $300 for Aydin's class art project

Pet rocks decorated by Kieran & Aydin.  We adopted them for a small fee.

After Aydin's class was done with their performance, I forgot to pick him up at the stage.  The other kids and I wandered around looking at all the cool stuff.  About 10-15 minutes later, I ran into a friend and she asked where Aydin was...CRAP!  I did it again.  I raced up to the stage hoping he hung around up there instead of trying to find me, but it was so crowded that I could not get there.  When I finally did, I found him hanging out with some 2nd graders who were trying to console an upset Aydin.

Other than that, the auction was a huge success--over $9,000 raised for Elm Tree!
